Dr. Poo Kuan Hoong

With 15 years of academic and research experience, Dr Poo is a passionate practitioner in the area of Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. A graduate of Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan), Dr. Poo holds a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, a Master of Information Technology (UKM), and a Bachelor of Science (UKM). He is currently working as Lead Data Scientist where he applies his combination of research and industrial experience in Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to provide innovative solutions. Besides that Dr Poo founded two communities in Malaysia: Malaysia R User Group and TensorFlow & Deep Learning Malaysia User Group.
Ts. Dr. Yu Yong Poh

Dr. Yu Yong Poh is one of the committee members of Malaysia R User Group. He received B.Eng. and PhD degrees from University of Malaya in 2008 and 2016. His main research areas are signal and image processing, data science and machine learning. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles including ISI-ranked journal papers and international conference papers. On the other hand, he is also involved in a number of industry projects. Currently, his industry projects include digital marketing, sentimental analytics, signal processing and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications.
Associate Prof. Dr. Kamarul Imran Musa
Universiti Sains Malaysia
Associate Professor Dr. Kamarul Imran Musa is a medical epidemiologist and biostatistician at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He obtained PhD (Epidemiology and Statistics) from Lancaster University, UK and after coming back to Malaysia, he introduced R in the academic syllabus. He runs regular R workshops locally and has attended multiple R workshops in the Europe.
Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Sian Lun
Sunway University
Dr. Lau is currently a Professor and the Head of the Department of Engineering at School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University. He started using R during his research at University of Kassel, Germany for analysis, visualization and machine learning in the area of ubiquitous computing and context-awareness. He enjoys sharing and promoting the use and application of open source software in solving real world problems for academia, research and industry.
Prof. Ts. Dr. Angela Lee Siew Hoong

Dr. Angela Lee is a Professor, Head of Department, MSc Data Science and BSc Information Systems (Data Analytics) Programme Leader in the School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, Malaysia. As a programme leader, she designs, builds and launches data science programmes in the university. Social media analytics, sentiment analysis, healthcare analytics, and technology adoption are some of her current research interests. PI for several grants and industrial projects in the areas of data science. Her work has appeared in international journals and conference proceedings. She is also a member of the IEEE Big Data Technical Committee, the Association of Information Systems, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK and represents Malaysia in the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
Tan Yong Jern (Gregory)
Sunway University
Gregory is a Final Year Student from Sunway University, studying Information Systems (Data Analytics). Apart from academics, he is also currently the Vice President of Sunway Tech Club and was the Vice President for Sunway Analytics Society back in 2021. He is also actively involved in multiple communities like Microsoft MEET, FutureLab, AWS Academy, and the Google Developer Student Club.
Si Joe Ann

Joe Ann is a Second Year Undergraduate in BSc (Hons) Financial Analysis at Sunway University. Besides, she is also the President of Sunway Analytics Society. She leads the team in organizing varieties of data science and data analytics related events, including workshops, talks, forums and competitions, that were collaborated with industry professionals from Deloitte, RHB, Qlik, Ikano Insight, Carsome and Shopee.
