Dr. Poo Kuan Hoong
With 15 years of academic and research experience, Dr Poo is a passionate practitioner in the area of Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. A graduate of Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan), Dr. Poo holds a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, a Master of Information Technology (UKM), and a Bachelor of Science (UKM). Dr Poo founded Coqnitics Sdn Bhd, an AI company focusing in providing image and video analytics. He is currently working as Lead Data Scientist where he applies his combination of research and industrial experience in Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to provide innovative solutions. Besides that Dr Poo founded two communities in Malaysia: Malaysia R User Group and TensorFlow & Deep Learning Malaysia User Group.
Loo Keen Ngin
Loo Keen Ngin is one of the committee member of Malaysia R User Group. He has more than 20 years of experience in the software development industry within the Internet, Mobile Telecommunication and Banking domain. He is particularly interested in process and project management, software development, entrepreneurship and, more recently, Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
Dr. Peter Ho
Dr. Peter Ho is one of the committee member of Malaysia R User Group. Peter received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Multimedia University. His doctoral research work was on the performance evaluation of multimodal biometric systems using fusion techniques. Peter is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Dr. Ho has published a number of peer reviewed papers related to location intelligence, multimodal biometrics, action recognition and text mining. He is currently an adjunct senior research fellow in the Department of Computing and Information Systems, School of Science and Technology , Sunway University.
Ts. Dr. Yu Yong Poh
Dr. Yu Yong Poh is one of the committee members of Malaysia R User Group. He received B.Eng. and PhD degrees from University of Malaya in 2008 and 2016. His main research areas are signal and image processing, data science and machine learning. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles including ISI-ranked journal papers and international conference papers. On the other hand, he is also involved in a number of industry projects. Currently, his industry projects include digital marketing, sentimental analytics, signal processing and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications.
Associate Prof. Dr. Kamarul Imran Musa

Associate Professor Dr. Kamarul Imran Musa is a medical epidemiologist and biostatistician at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He obtained PhD (Epidemiology and Statistics) from Lancaster University, UK and after coming back to Malaysia, he introduced R in the academic syllabus. He runs regular R workshops locally and has attended multiple R workshops in the Europe.
Dr. Wan Nor Arifin

Wan Nor Arifin is a lecturer at Biostatistics and Research Methodology Unit, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He teaches medical statistics and some other interesting subjects. His research is mainly in the validation of measurement tools and machine learning, especially for use in clinical and public health settings. He is a chronic user of R statistical programming language for the past few years. He also actively "forces" people to use R in medical statistics. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at School of Computer Sciences, USM.
Dr. Tan Yan Bin
Dr Tan Yan Bin received her Ph.D. (Mathematics) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2016. In 2019, she was certified as a HRDF trainer; and then in 2020, she was certified by Microsoft as an Azure Data Scientist Associate. Dr Yan Bin has more than five years of lecturing experience in a higher education institution and is actively involved in data science related training and projects. Currently, she is a lecturer, trainer, and data analyst. Her current interests include sentiment analysis, digital marketing, and etc.
Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Sian Lun
Dr. Lau is currently a Professor and the Head of the Department of Engineering at School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University. He started using R during his research at University of Kassel, Germany for analysis, visualization and machine learning in the area of ubiquitous computing and context-awareness. He enjoys sharing and promoting the use and application of open source software in solving real world problems for academia, research and industry.
Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Angela Lee Siew Hoong
Dr. Angela Lee is an Associate Professor, Assistant Head of Department, MSc Data Science and BSc Information Systems (Data Analytics) Programme Leader in the School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University, Malaysia. As a programme leader, she designs, builds and launches data science programmes in the university. Social media analytics, sentiment analysis, healthcare analytics, and technology adoption are some of her current research interests. PI for several grants and industrial projects in the areas of data science. Her work has appeared in international journals and conference proceedings. She is also a member of the IEEE Big Data Technical Committee, the Association of Information Systems, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK and represents Malaysia in the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
Dr. Gan Chew Peng
Dr Gan Chew Peng joined Sunway University in 2012. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business from Sunway University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from Lancaster University, a Master of Science in Statistics and an honours degree in Bachelor of Science (Statistics) from University of Malaya. Her research interest focuses on credit risk modelling. She is currently pursuing an additional certificate from the SAS Institute to become a SAS Certified Data Scientist. She was the teacher advisor for Sunway University Chinese Cultural Society (SUCCS) from 2014 to 2019.
Dr. Noor Farizah Ibrahim

Dr. Noor Farizah Ibrahim is a lecturer at School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She holds a PhD from University of Bristol, UK. Her research interests revolve around text analytics and machine learning: sentiment analysis, topic modelling and time-series analysis, social media research and e-commerce. She is also a certified International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) Software Tester (CTFL), a Huawei Certified ICT Associate-Artificial Intelligence (HCIA-AI), a Huawei Certified Academy Instructor (HCAI).
